A breakthrough in scientific understanding has revealed a stunning simplicity. Any multivariate calibration consists of only two fundamental building blocks, a signal estimate and a noise estimate. Prior methods of multivariate calibration have estimated the building blocks indirectly, introducing different degrees of inaccuracy and laboriousness. By controlling the blocks directly, the user can calibrate better and cheaper. This is called Science Based Calibration (SBC). Significant advantages can be realized.
